EVANSVILLE, Ind., and HOUSTON, Feb. 1, 2019 /PRNewswire/ CenterPoint Energy, Inc. (NYSE: CNP) and Vectren Corporation (NYSE: VVC) announced today that their merger has been completed successfully. CenterPoint Energy, based in Houston, has regulated electric and natural gas utility businesses in eight states serving more than 7 million metered consumers, as well as a competitive energy business presence in approximately 40 states.
With whom did CenterPoint merge?
(AP) EVANSVILLE, Ind. A utility that serves a big region of southwestern Indiana is changing its name as part of a rebranding effort to make it more streamlined.
Over the next few months, Vectren will be renamed CenterPoint Energy, with new signage and markings, according to company spokesperson Natalie Hedde.
CenterPoint Energy, based in Houston, Texas, completed its merger with Vectren, formerly based in Evansville, Indiana, in February 2019. Vectren, a CenterPoint Energy Company, has been the company’s name since that time.

In June, the firm indicated that renewable energy sources would be prioritized in its future power generation plans. It claimed that the changeover would save customers $320 million over the next 20 years and reduce carbon emissions by 75% compared to 2005 levels.
The company serves around 145,000 consumers in southwestern Indiana with electricity and natural gas in other regions of the state.
