Where can I find MLB on SiriusXM?
On Opening Day, April 7, the 2022 Major League Baseball season kicks off with nine games. SiriusXM is your source for all things Major League Baseball, including the most comprehensive national audio coverage available. On MLB Network Radio (Ch 89), available to subscribers nationwide on SiriusXM radios and the SXM App, hear live play-by-play of every regular season and postseason game, as well as 24/7 news, talk, and analysis.
Follow along on SiriusXM as we look at six strategies to get ready for the regular season.
MLB’s official satellite radio partner has been Sirius (now SiriusXM) since 2005, with their current agreement based on a six-year extension inked in 2013 that continued through this year. SiriusXM said Monday that they’ve inked a multi-year deal with MLB, and it comes with one very significant immediate change: live MLB games were previously only available to SiriusXM satellite radio subscribers, not to those with streaming-only subscriptions. Live games are now available to streaming-only subscribers. From a press release, here’s more:
Starting with the 2021 MLB season, Major League Baseball and SiriusXM have expanded their partnership to include additional streaming rights. For the first time, SiriusXM streaming-only customers can listen to live play-by-play broadcasts of every MLB game on the SiriusXM app, as well as on connected devices and speakers in their homes.
The SiriusXM app has 30 play-by-play channels dedicated to streaming the official radio broadcasts of every MLB team, allowing fans to choose between home and away broadcasters for every game throughout the season.
On automobiles equipped with next-generation SiriusXM with 360L radios, all 30 MLB play-by-play channels are also available.
…A multi-year renewal of SiriusXM’s rights to broadcast every MLB game is also included in the new pact.
Update: As reader Eric points out, this has a drawback for people who already have in-car subscriptions. MLB, NFL, and NASCAR games are now accessible in the All-Access tier ($21.99 per month once promotional pricing expires), but NHL, NBA, and NCAA games are still available in the Select ($16.99 per month) tier (they’re also available in the All-Access Tier). As a result, people with automobile subscriptions will now pay a greater premium to watch MLB games. Those with streaming-only subscriptions, on the other hand, can upgrade to the Premier Tier (which includes all of those sports except NASCAR) for $13 per month.

Is MLB on DISH Network free?
Last week, DIRECTV announced that it had begun collecting orders for this season’s MLB Extra Innings package, which would cost $139.99, a $10 increase over last year’s season charge.
The standard pricing for the 2022 edition of MLB.TV, the league’s streaming package of out-of-market regular season games, is the same as this. However, MLB.TV is now offering a $10 discount off the regular season’s pricing, bringing the total to $129.99. It’s unknown how long MLB TV will keep the plan at the $129.99 special cost.
DIRECTV’s Extra Innings subscription includes MLB.TV for free, as it has for the previous seven seasons. MLB.TV is available on over 400 streaming devices, including Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
But, you might wonder, what about Dish? Will the nation’s second-largest satellite TV provider match DIRECTV’s offer?
Yes, it is correct. A Dish official tells the TV Answer Man that the 2022 MLB Extra Innings plan is now available for $140, or four installments of $35 each. Dish is also adding the MLB.TV package with every Extra Innings plan for free, just like DIRECTV.
MLB Extra Innings broadcasts up to 90 out-of-market games per week, the majority of which are in HD. Local blackouts will continue to apply in the MLB TV and Extra Innings plans for 2022. With an MLB.TV or Extra Innings subscription, you won’t be able to watch your local team or teams. You may find out which teams in your zip code will be blacked out here.
