I’m moving into my apartment on Monday, July 21st, and I’m wondering whether I can get WiFi setup that day.
Is it possible to get Xfinity the same day?
On the Xfinity Support Forums, we’re always happy to assist. A few things to keep in mind:
- If your apartment has had Xfinity services in the last 3-6 months, you can self-install most services (some limitations apply) using a kit that can be delivered to you or picked up at one of our Xfinity locations.
- If the property has been without Xfinity services for more than 6 months, you may attempt self-installation; however, if you are unsuccessful and a technician is required, a cost may apply (price varies by line of business and can be as high as $100.00 in most locations).
- We strongly recommend a professional installation if the property has not had active Xfinity services for more than 12 months or if another provider was previously active at the location, as the wiring inside and outside the premise may not be configured for Xfinity services.
We can schedule installations up to 30 days in advance, and we provide them 7 days a week, from early morning to early evening, with 2-hour arrival windows, as well as a Tech ETA function embedded right into the ‘My Account’ app. Installation time varies depending on the size of the task and the number of pieces of equipment being installed, but most installations are completed in a matter of hours.
In November, my roommate and I had our TV, Home Phone, and Internet services transferred and installed in our townhome. Even though a prior provider had been active at the property, our home was pre-wired with up-to-spec coaxial cabling, so our service was completed in under two hours.

How long does it take to activate Xfinity?
Activation times vary depending on your carrier and whether or not you want to keep your phone number. The procedure usually takes no more than 10 minutes. If you’re transferring your number from another carrier, have both your old and new phones handy just in case.
Is it possible for me to start using Xfinity right away?
You can use Xfinity Hotspots right immediately if you’re a new customer, even before your Xfinity Internet service is installed at your house. Internet Essentials includes access to Xfinity WiFi hotspots.
Is it difficult to set up Xfinity internet on your own?
It takes about 30 minutes or less to set up your Xfinity service on your own. All you have to do now is run a coaxial cable from your wall outlet to your cable TV box or Xfinity modem. After you’ve connected everything, you’ll need to activate your Xfinity service online in order to properly power it up and go online or channel surf.
Is it possible for me to set up Xfinity internet on my own?
