In InDesign, what is the shortcut for hiding gridlines?
InDesign’s shortcut to show/hide baseline grids is something I can’t seem to recall. Command+Option+’ (Mac) or Ctrl+Alt+’ (Windows) (Windows).
Of course, I could take the effort to create a more memorable custom shortcut. I could also skip the shortcuts and go straight to View > Grids & Guides > Show Baseline Grid.
Fortunately, there’s an even easier way to toggle baseline grid visibility, and it’s right in front of your eyes if you have the Application Bar visible. A View Options button can be found in the Application Bar. When you click it, frame edges, rulers, guides, smart guides, hidden characters, and, yes, baseline grids are all instantaneously visible or hidden.

If it is visible, go to View -> Show/Conceal -> Ruler & Grids and select Grid to hide it. When the grid is displayed, a check mark appears next to the command name. You may also show/hide it with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+U (Windows) or Command+U (Mac).
In InDesign, how do I modify the grid?
Move to the spread you want to edit or choose the spread or page in the Page panel to adjust the layout grid parameters for that spread or page.
Select the pages in the Page panel, or the parent page that controls the pages you want to edit, to adjust the layout grid settings for multiple pages.
Individual page layout grid settings can be changed, therefore a single document can have multiple layout grids.
In InDesign, how can I preview without lines?
T. – The text on the page is one of the most important aspects of a publication, hence the textbox generation tool is vital. It’s as simple as pressing the letter T on your keyboard to get to it.
– V. Pressing the letter V, as in other Adobe products, launches the “Move” tool, which may be used to relocate any form of frame, text, or element in the publication.
– Ctrl + Shift + Move When you drag an item from the document while pressing the CMD (or CNTRL) key on your keyboard, the selected item will be duplicated.
– Cmd + Alt + V (Shift + Cmd + Alt + V). Copying something (cmd + c) and pasting it in the same position on the page of the document you’re working on.
W. – Perhaps one of InDesign’s more intriguing keyboard shortcuts. Simply use the W key to change the document’s display mode. This allows you to view a preview of your publication that is borderless and free of editing marks, just as it would be once saved or printed.
Why can’t I see my InDesign baseline grid?
There are several reasons why you might not be able to see InDesign’s Baseline Grid. The first thing to look for is whether or not you’ve requested that they be visible: Make sure Show Baseline Grid is enabled in View>Grids & Guides.
If the grid is still not visible, make sure you’re not in Preview Mode (useView>Screen Mode>Normal), as this will hide anything that will not print, including the Baseline Grid.
If the grid is still not visible, zoom in and it should appear eventually. This is because if you are viewing your page at less than 75 percent magnification, it will not display by default. If you have a small screen, you may wish to adjust InDesign’s options so that the grid appears when you view the entire page. Reduce the View Threshold setting to roughly 50% by going to InDesign>Preferences>Grids (Edit>Preferences>Grids on PC).

- Click the Preview Mode icon at the bottom of the Toolbox to reveal or hide guidelines and other non-printing components.
In Illustrator, how can you get rid of the grid?

In InDesign, how can I hide the margins and columns?
In the New Document dialog box, you can specify the margins and columns for a new file. In an existing file, you can also modify the margins and columns.
- Select the thumbnails for the pages you want to alter in the Pages panel (Window > Pages).
- Select Layout > Margins and Columns from the drop-down menu.
- Fill in the top, bottom, left, and right margins, as well as the number of columns and gutters (the space between columns).
- Make sure Snap to Guides is checked under View > Grids & Guides. When this option is selected, items drawn, moved, or resized within 4 pixels of a guide “snap to the guides.”
- Text frames and images that are close to the margins and column guides will snap to the guides.
