I realize that hasn’t fixed it yet, but don’t get too worked up! With a subsequent upgrade to Chrome for Android, Google changed this workaround, thus there are now additional steps to take:
- In the address bar, type “chrome:/flags/#temporary-unexpire-flags-m88.”
- In the address bar, type “chrome:/flags/#temporary-unexpire-flags-m89”
Okay, you should now be able to control your tabs using cards. Simply follow the instructions above and change the setting to “Default” if you ever want to go back. Google will eventually deprecate this new patch, as has been proved time and time again, and we’ll be here to discover a replacement.

- In the address bar, type “chrome:/flags/#enable-conditional-tabstrip.”
- Select Conditional Tab Strip from the drop-down option.

We’ll continue to look at it, but for now, one of these solutions should suffice.
