If your thermostat displays a red light during normal operation, this usually indicates that the outdoor unit has shut down due to a fault and is locked out of normal functioning. When this occurs, the outside unit sends a signal to the thermostat, alerting you of a problem with the device.

Blinking “Cool On” or “Heat On” Your thermostat is on a five-minute delay if this set of words or the graphic blinks. This function prevents short cycles from causing damage to your equipment. If you lose power, this could happen.
Why can’t I change the temperature on my thermostat?
Because your ducts or vents are unclean, you may get a faulty thermostat reading from time to time. This can also happen if your air filter is clogged. In general, if the air can’t circulate freely, your home may have trouble heating and cooling. Your air conditioner or furnace may appear to run continuously, or it may turn off before you reach the ideal temperature.
To avoid these issues, we can clean your unclean ducts and vents. As an added bonus, your home’s air quality will be much improved.
Many people are unaware that they have an air quality problem until they have firsthand experience with clean air. You won’t have to worry about outdoor allergens, pet dander, mould, and other particles flying through your ducts every time your HVAC unit or fan turns on if you have a clean system.
We can even instal a thermostat that circulates the air. This is a smart thermostat that operates for a few minutes every hour, even if the temperature in your home is already ideal. It simply circulates the air using a fan, preventing stale, stagnant air. Good air circulation is even more important to our health during these seasons when the family spends more time indoors.
We also have high-quality HEPA air filters on hand, so you can quickly replace a blocked air filter. Every few months, we recommend replacing your air filter. If you have pets, keep your windows open throughout the day, or live in a dusty location, we recommend changing your air filter more frequently, once a month at the very least.
What should I do if my thermostat isn’t working?
If the thermostat’s display is dark, it could be due to a power outage. Replace the batteries, then check the electrical panel for a blown fuse or tripped breaker. If the thermostat is still not working, make sure the circuit breaker is turned off and the cover is removed. If it appears dirty on the inside, clean it with canned air or a soft artist brush to remove any accumulated grime that may be interfering with its operation. Then look for any problems, such as loose wire or terminal screws, and tighten them. Replace the thermostat if the wire appears to be rusted.
This problem can be caused by dirty thermostat components, so clean the inside as directed above. A jarring shock can knock a non-digital thermostat off balance, resulting in temperature and setting inconsistencies. Place a carpenter’s level just above the gadget and adjust until it’s level again.
A frozen anticipator is another possible culprit if you have a mechanical thermostat. To get it unstuck, locate the arm that’s attached to a round dial and gently press it in either direction. If none of these suggestions work, think about the thermostat’s location. If it’s near the main living spaces and is exposed to heat sources, direct sunshine, or draughts, it may need to be relocated.
This can be caused by an out-of-whack or dirty thermostat, so address those issues first. An incorrectly calibrated anticipator is another option. By adjusting the anticipator lever one notch at a time towards the word “longer” on the dial, you may be able to lengthen the cycle. If this doesn’t work, consider switching to a programmable thermostat.

Is it better to turn up or down the heat on my thermostat?
We want you to be able to customise your thermostat for maximum comfort and energy savings. But first, let’s go through the basics of how a thermostat works. It’s not like driving a car, where the more you press down on the gas pedal, the faster it goes.
Your thermostat is essentially a “on-off” button that controls the operation of your furnace or other heating system. When you request heat by setting your thermostat higher than the current indoor temperature, the thermostat activates the heater and continues it running until it reaches the desired temperature.
Setting your thermostat higher only makes your heater run longer; it does not produce more heat or heat your home more quickly. You should try to keep two thermostats at the same temperature: one for when people are home and one for when your house is empty.
