A familiar 812cc three-cylinder Chery engine may be found beneath the hood of the Textron Prowler XT. It produces 50 horsepower in the Textron and runs incredibly quietly, which the Mule (47 hp) is also noted for. Which is the quieter version? Visit your local dealership and make your own decision. The Textron machine has a closed-loop system, whereas both machines run on full EFI. The transmission on both machines is a CVT system.
The Mule’s enormous 54.1-inch long bed is one of its best features. The Mule Pro FX has a large cargo capacity. With a 92.3-inch wheelbase, it has a lengthy wheelbase. This can be a concern for some trail obstacles because the Mule has a tendency to high-center, so keep that in mind when you use it. In my opinion, it’s a little price to pay for all that capacity. The bed is rated for 1,000 pounds of capacity, and after personally testing this machine with that much weight in it, I can attest that you won’t even notice it’s there.
The Prowler’s bed capacity is 1,000 pounds, thanks to the suspension design and cooperation from CAT. This is in a more typical 40.5-inch cargo bed, giving the Prowler an 85-inch wheelbase.
Both machines have 2,000-pound towing capacities and 2-inch towing receiver hitches. The Mule Pro EPS LE and the Prowler XT both have power steering. The Prowler’s XT package has aluminum wheels, while the Mule’s LE package includes the same. Both motorcycles offer three-person bench seating, while the Prowler allows you to remove the passenger seat for more baggage room.
